About the graphics:
The Flying Putti are inspired by an affresco of the Bolognese Guido Reni (1575-1642), one of the greatest exponents of 17th-century classicism and Italian Baroque painting. The original affresco, now detached, is still housed in the Basilica of Santa Maria dei Servi in Bologna, but is not well known.
The painter's original preparatory drawings are held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. These forgotten angels deserved to be rediscovered, and Unico in Serie designed them, giving them an etching effect (acquaforte) and replacing the pastoral staff with a lily, a symbol of purity and innocence. The Latin inscription Semper Tecum, always with you, pays homage to the tradition of guardian angels.
